[At that moment, Kaz feels an overwhelming rush of affection for Rethe, because he's right. So he knocks his head against the Angel's shoulder, as if to say Well, you matter to me now too.]

[And that honestly catches him off-guard. Nobody really does stuff like that to him (unless they happen to be Calintz Duskrider or Lorenzo Reyes, and Lorenzo doesn't really count because he always does it accidentally when he's on the way down to another nap).

There's no way for him to express, though, the amount of gratefulness he feels at this small reminder that yes, he IS allowed to have certain things. Easy friendship included.]
